Service Description

A day tour for the slightly more experienced cyclist to explore the meandering rivers of the iconic Dovedale and Manifold. Climbing and descending sweeping valleys and finding forgotten halls and hidden hamlets that are found in between. From the most welcoming luxury of Callow Hall take the Tissington Trail to Thorpe and then climb high along a gated road which offers panoramic views across both Derbyshire and Staffordshire. From this view point it would appear you are higher than the Cloud itself. Then follow minor roads out to the pretty hamlet of Milldale perched adjacent to the Dove. For coffee or lunch perhaps stop at two of the prettiest white peak villages of Alstonefield and Wetton. At both you will find a traditional English pub and cafe. Or find a picnic table and just take in the wonderfully English scenery. We then return south via the Manifold Way via a former milk light railway link. This is wonderful valley with views of Thors Cave and limestone ravines either side. Little known minor roads then provide access to Dovedale and Ilam via the most scenic but often forgotten old trading route. Tudor remnants of old halls and medieval farms can be found upon. On this tour there will be plenty of time to stop at Ilam to look at the Hall, the church and the vast grounds. The final leg of the tour views Thorpe Cloud and Dovedale below before descending from Blore Hall down into the village of Mapleton. It is only a short distance to Callow Hall where you can lock up your bikes and order some well deserved refreshment. Perhaps our most scenic circular Tour!
