Service Description

Pack your panniers and set off on a 2 day adventure around 50 miles of the White Peak Loop and enjoy the best scenery and historic sites that the White Peak has to offer Price includes eBike / Helmet / Pannier hire and 1 nights accommodation with breakfast at the Rutland Arms Hotel in Bakewell (or alternative if fully booked). Other meals should be budgeted for separately. Please note shared room means a double or twin room shared with another member of your group. If you are a single participant you only have the option of your own room. From our Winster hub the day 1 tour joins the old Cromford and High Peak Railway with its rich industrial heritage down to the Cromford Canal and the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Cromford Mills, the birthplace of the modern factory system. It is north through the bustle of the tourist haven of Matlock Bath following the Derwent River into Matlock itself. Our trail then joins the Matlock to Rowsley Cycle Path a traffic free route from Matlock Station to Rowsley along the route of the former Midland Railway. From Rowsley you can either take a bit of retail therapy at the Chatsworth owned Peak Village or just carry on taking lovely remote farm tracks between Haddon Hall and Chatsworth Estate. At Bakewell you have plenty of time to safely store and recharge the bikes before you explore the delights of the Peak District's largest town. Discover the secrets of the Bakewell Pudding, try out the many cafes and restaurants before your well deserved rest of the historic Rutland Hotel. Following breakfast day 2 will involve returning back to the Old Bakewell Station to join the Monsal Trail. Ride the trail through old railway tunnels, through some of the most spectacular scenery the Peak District has to offer. At Millers Dale we climb out of the stunning valley and up onto the Moorland to reach the most northerly section of the High Peak Trail. There is an opportunity to take lunch at a lovely gastro pub before returning to the trail and following it towards Minninglow's neolithic burial site and then back to the Miners Standard to complete a lovely 2 day break. Plenty of time to enjoy the sites along the way.
