Using Your Phone for eBike Navigation

2 min read

Instead of investing in a separate expensive Bike GPS you can use your phone instead. It is the perfect device for eBike navigation as it has a large colour screen and there are some great navigation apps like Ride with GPS and Komoot available

To make this happen you just need a good quality Smartphone holder for your handlebars . For our Crossover eBikes we have 2 perfect options

  1. Bosch Universal SmartphoneGrip - if you have a Bosch Kiox 300 computer this simply clicks on the existing mount and replaces the Kiox.

  2. Universal Anti Vibration Phone Holder with Ball Mount - this is a motorcycle product so more robust than most bike phone holders and because it uses the ball mount system very easy to position and adjust

Bosch Universal Smartphone Grip

This is our preferred solution because if you have a Kiox 300 it simply clicks on the same mount and has these features

  • No need for extra devices on your handlebars

  • Charges your phone as you ride

  • Works with eBike Flow App so can still have the same functionality as Kiox as well as your navigation app

If you do not have a Kiox you can still fit but need to get a Retrofit kit to install

The only main disadvantage of using your phone for navigation is the speed at which the navigation app uses your battery so you do either need a Smartphone Holder with built in charging (like the Bosch Smartphone Grip) or a spare power bank with you when you ride

Once you have your iPhone holder in place you can download a suitable Navigation App. Our preferred solution is Ride with GPS which you can get for free when you purchase one of our downloadable routes
