What is the best eBike for Touring?

Having the right eBike is a big part of making sure you have an enjoyable tour which is why PeakePedals has built up an eBike fleet with multiple options

Over the last few years we have tested a lot of different eBikes and it is fair to say "you get what you pay for" the cheaper eBikes we have trialled are not great options for touring because they

• Do not have the power to make hill climbing easy and there is a lot of them in the "Peak" District

• Do not have good tyres so not as stable in all conditions and more liable to punctures

• Are not as reliable so there is a higher possibility of breakdown on your tour

• Do not have auto mode so not as simple, smooth and battery friendly to ride

• Have poor quality or no inbuilt lights so not as safe in fog or failing light

• Do not have decent mudguards or pannier options which are both important for touring

• Have cheaper components like saddles and suspension so not as comfortable to ride for longer distances

We now have 3 types of top specification eBike that we believe cater for almost all customers touring needs

XROAD FS

This full suspension purpose built touring eBike is the mainstay of our fleet. Equiped with specialist tyres and a powerful Bosch 650 watt motor to give maximum range as well as performance

J.ALL

Next generation full suspension eBike with its unique "J" step through frame makes it the perfect solution for people with less flexibility. Comfortable upright cycling position also good for non cyclists and the option for power extenders make it ideal for the longest tours

JMT13 eTRIKE

The perfect option for people that have never learnt to ride a bike, lack confidence or have mobility issues. It is also a great fun way to explore but is a little different to ride than a conventional eBike so may not be suitable for experienced cyclists (different technique)

It is also not just about the type of eBike but the size is important too and although some of the cheap eBike have a one size fits all strategy, having an eBike that is the right size is easier to ride, more comnfortable and ultimately safer. This is the reason we always ask your height when you are booking your tour

As standard we will typically provide the XRoad FS as our standard touring eBike but please let us know when booking if you think another option might be better for you. We are always happy to discuss your needs if you are not sure or want reassurance

Please note that although we now have a large fleet of eBikes we cannot always guarantee you will get your first choice of eBike so always best to specifiy when you book to avoid dispaointment
