Will increasing petrol prices trigger more interest in using eBikes for local journeys?

Rapidly rising petrol prices have certainly focussed minds on the costs of running cars so we thought it might be a good time to explore whether using an eBike or an eTrike is viable alternative for those local journeys
In a rural areas like the Peak District the public transport infrastructure is not great so for many the car has seemed like the only viable alternative but that was without taking into consideration the advances in eBike technology like
Battery Range - even on maximum assistance going up and down hills a decent quality eBike battery will last up to 50 miles
Increased Assistance - if you invest in a decent quality eBike the level of support they can now provide means that even the steepest hills are pretty easy for most people
Auto Mode - simplifies eBike usage and helps increase the battery life as it can sense what assistance you require on different gradients
Full Suspension - is a game changer if you have ever had a sore bottom from cycling or want to be able to tackle pot holes with confidence
Proper Mudguards - sounds silly but a decent well designed set of mudguards will make sure you do not get in a mess even when the roads are a bit wet - a must have for touring eBikes
Luggage Racks - mean you can instantly attach various bags and baskets making it viable to carry larger loads - in cities many carrier firms now use eBikes or eTrikes
Built in Lights - make things a bit safer as they make you more noticeable on the roads and never run out of batteries (or flicker when going slower like the old dynamos)
eTricycles - finally the addition of eTrikes means even those not confident on 2 wheels can still ride and they have the added bonus of lots of extra carrying capacity. They are also great fun to ride (you can tell we are big fans)
Add to this the obvious health benefits of the aerobic exercise that you get from pedalling (yes you still have to pedal) and it starts to become a compelling case
If you are doing many journeys of 5 to 10 miles or less then it is hard to see why you would not consider using an eBike. You do not need to be super fit to travel at about 11mph on an eBike so this means a 5 mile trip into town will take less than 30 minutes
What we also have in the Peak District is an amazing infrastructure for cycling meaning you do not have to travel on busy roads and on lots of occasions you can go down tracks or lanes cars cannot. When the roads around certain towns are gridlocked in the summer it is often quicker to travel by eBike and initiatives like the White Peak Loop mean we will be getting better and better infrastructure for cycling
As you may have gathered as well as being a leading eBike touring company we are big advocates of active transport so if you are interesting in trying out an eBike for yourself you can join one of our Community eBike Rides or try a taster tour
Our preloved eBikes are also the best value on the market if you want to get a high specification bike at a great price that was built for riding on our local roads and trails
We love the Peak District and are massive fans of crossover eBikes so if you want to explore whether active transport might work for you then please do not hesitate to get in touch as we would love to hear your questions or opinions
Oh and I almost forgot best of all the Government will contribute to you purchasing an eBike as they have kepy their Cycle2Work Scheme running meaning you can get between 25% & 40% discount on a new or even pre-used eBike
